Wood preservative oil - natural, food grade

For cutting boards, butcher's block, wooden bowls and utensils, wooden toys ...

Use :

Indoors, for bare woods such as cutting boards, bread boards, butcher blocks, wooden toys, wooden musical instruments ...

Characteristics :

This oil mixture applied to the wood will revive the structure and the grain of the wood in addition to protecting it in depth. This mixture is specially designed to let the wood breathe Ie when it is dried, it creates a checkerboard small enough to prevent water drops and dirt from becoming embedded in the wood, but large enough to let air and humidity pass

How to apply :

Apply to cloth or "finishing pad", sheepskin, single disc machine or vibrating sander at room temperature above 20 ° C. After 45 minutes, any excess should be removed.

Test to determine performance. Note that the average yield described below was calculated on a wood surface finished with grade 150 sandpaper.

1st coat: 125 sq. Ft. Per liter

2nd, 3rd coat: 250 sq. Ft. Per liter

Drying time :

At 21 ° C and 50% relative humidity in air, 12 hours for the first coat, then 24 hours for subsequent coats, if applicable. Complete hardness obtained after 4 weeks. At higher temperatures, the drying time will be shorter. In the case of lower temperatures and higher humidity, the drying times will be longer than those indicated above.

Precautions for use:

  • To avoid any risk of spontaneous ignition, keep your applicator and your cloths still soaked in oil away from the air in a tightly closed container or in water and dispose of them.
  • The product itself is not self-igniting. It contains ingredients that can cause allergic reactions.
  • Keep out of the reach of children.

Application tips :

  • * This product is for indoor application only. Note that since the oil is penetrating, the finish to the touch will be about the same before and after the oil treatment.
  • The wood must be dry (wood humidity less than 12%), resistant, absorbent, clean, free of any resin and dust-free. Perform a minimum sanding to grade 120.
  • If you are applying to the "finishing pad", make sure there is no liquid oil residue on your surface after penetration.

Cleaning and maintenance of the treated surface:

For routine maintenance, it is highly recommended to use EcoSelection oiled wood soap. Black soap can also be used. * Avoid putting any detergent soap on your oiled surfaces as you will mar it.

Usage tips :

The better the preparatory sanding, the better the performance, durability and resistance to dirt and abrasion. Sloppy sanding will not provide the necessary water repellency and the finish may eventually take on a greenish or grayish tint. The older and drier the wood, the more its color will be revived. If the wood has not been sufficiently saturated and has not received the necessary protective finish film, water and fruit can cause stains or discolorations. To obtain a higher degree of shine, use EcoSelection wax as the last coat. Before application, glues and adhesives must be fully cured.
